Entry fee payment: Follow the Paypal link on application form.
Entry fee: ¥3,500 per piece / approx. US $30.00 (Max. of 2 works per artist)- Entry Fees are non-refundable.

All artworks must be sent ONLY BY STANDARD / REGULAR post (you must mark contents as: "PRINTED MATTER"). Other shipping methods WILL NOT be accepted under any circumstances (NO EMS, DHL, UPS, Fedex, etc…). If artwork is sent / marked incorrectly, a customs fee will be charged, so we can not accept it.

Artists may submit up to two works.
All works will be made available for sale on commission.
Size

Paper dimensions MUST be A4 size (210x297mm) however, the actual printed image size can be any size up to 180x270mm max. We will carefully mat all prints for exhibition.

Matting

Judge Announcement Awards will be announced on the AIMPE website on September 5, 2023(All submitted works will be exhibited at Inbe Art Space).
Award Ceremony Award Ceremony : Date: October 7, 2023 at Yoshinogawa city Amenity Center.
The schedule of award ceremony will be announced on this website.
Prizes The AIMPE Jury panel shall choose accepted works and award all prizewinners.
10 Prize Winning works shall become the property of AIMPE and wnners awarded with prizes as outlined below:

Grand Prize (1) 300,000 yen
Runner-up Prize (1) 100,000 yen
Excellence Prizes (5) 50,000 yen
Awagami Factory Prizes (3) 30,000 yen (Digital inkjet prints)
Yoshinogawa City Mayoral Prize (1) 30,000 yen
Minoru Fujimori Prize (1) 30,000 yen (watter baced - Mokuhanga)
Jury Prizes (several) 10,000 yen
Cranfield Ink Prize (1) $300 worth of Cranfield Printimaking Inks
Pressing Matters Prize (1) 1 year (4issues) subsrcription to Pressing Matters Printmaking magazine (+ artist feature in future issue)
  • All submitted artworks MUST be printed on any type of Japanese washi paper
    (It does not have to be an Awagami Factory brand paper).

  • Works created since 2022 are eligible.
    *Please note that works that have previously won prizes in other contests or exhibitions are excluded.
  • Submitted works can be any type of fine print but the work must be flat.
    Digital (Inkjet/Giclee) prints on washi will also be accepted.
  • Please hand-sign each artwork and include its title + edition number on the FRONT of the print.
  • Artists may submit up to two works.
    In the event that an artist ships more prints than they registered, the AIMPE jury will select the better print for the exhibition.

  • If you want us to return your print, We will return the print within 40 days following the end of A.I.M.P.E.
  • Please fill out and submit our questionnaire to assist Awagami with future washi paper research and development.
  • For international shipping protect print(s) using cardboard.
  • Make sure print(s) are completely dried before packing sepecially oil-based ink.
  • A.I.M.P.E will store the print(s) in good faith, however we are not responsible for the damage / disappearance of print(s) due to natural disasters.

  • All selected works shall be exhibited at the Hall of Awa Japanese Paper Museum and "Inbe Art Space".
    Exhibition:October 7 (Sat) to November 12 (Sun), 2023. Opening reception will be held on the first date.
