At the AIMPE 2013, held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Awagami Factory, 598 participants from 39 countries submitted a total of 938 art works. The exhibition will be held at the old factory site, which has been renovated into the Inbe Art Space. All submitted works will be displayed, and it is hoped that a wide variety of artists will answer the call for works, which is open to both professionals and amateur artists.
In 2014, "washi: craftsmanship of traditional Japanese handmade paper" was designated a UNESCO intangible heritage item. There are several hundred different kinds of washi manufactured around Japan. The washi used in submitted works may be of any quality and from any production area. Purchase some washi from a local vendor.
