Announcement of prize-winning works 2013

In 2013, The Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper celebrates 25 years since the opening of the facility. An important part of Awagami Factory's activities promoting and educating people about washi has been its visiting artist program. This has included inviting washi creators to use the paper making equipment at Awagami Factory to make their artworks, and other activities have included establishing venues for holding Awa washi print exhibitions in Tokyo and Tokushima with the cooperation of art university instructors.

With this background, we planned an exhibition open to professionals and amateurs alike will be held in Yoshinogawa City, Tokushima, which is said to be the birthplace of washi paper. A diverse group of artists from around Japan and overseas have been invited to submit work to the mini print exhibition and contest.

Nearly 1,000 prints from 39 countries were submitted to the Awagami International Miniature Print Exhibition ('A.I.M.P.E') 2013. Thank you very much to all the artists who submitted works.
The 7 A.I.M.P.E judges deliberated carefully to select the award-winners. 'A.I.M.P.E' prize-winning works are displayed here below.
